As I came in to the office in the afternoon, my cousin was telling me a massive earthquake and tsunami has just hit Japan.

First and foremost, I started to think anyone I know in Japan and yes. I login to Facebook to check if there is any updates and to find out more in the news.

Thank God, she is fine and took further look at the videos posted in YouTube. It was massive and no one could ever imagine how much more damage can it be.

Surprise Mini - Solo Marathon

Good Morning Everyone!
Finally after nearly 2 weeks of stomach upset (unknown cause; possible gastric, stomach flu or even mild food poisoning) followed with mild fever and disturbed sleeps almost every night, I feel so much refreshed and energized today!

Last night, my Molly mama's maid help me to 'Gua Sha' (chinese traditional massage - scrapping of back to release body heat. As usual, my back is 'bruised' now because after the massage, the skin will turn red as if you are having a severe rash..but the effect is fantastic!

I did something pretty surprise to myself today. I woke up from bed at 3.30am and feel extremely tired but just could not get back to sleep. Decided to do some reading and the effect was opposite from usual. I become more alert! Okie, then I move on to booting up my laptop and start working on some business proposals..time flies, its 6am! Without much hesitation, I changed my attire and put on my running shoes, grab my running partner (my pinky Sony Walkman) and start jogging to Gurney, Pulau Tikus and then home...it takes more than an hour to complete. The feeling was awesome! Its like doing a marathon but all alone :)

Long list of task awaits for my day! Great Start!

Worth trying them as they are easy to prepare, apply and not expensive! .

Cleansing > Yogurt and minced cucumber
Mix 1 tablespoon of plain unsweetened yogurt together with a quarter of mashed or finely minced cucumber. Apply on wet face and massage gently in circular motions. Rinse off thoroughly with water and pat dry.

Masque>Almond Milk Masque
1 tablespoon of ground almond meal, 1/2 tablespoon of oatmeal, 2-4 teaspoons of warm skim milk, 1 teaspoon of raw honey. Dissolve honey in skim milk, then add the ground almond meal and oatmeal. Mix until it is thick and apply for 20-30 minutes.

One more week to go and I will be leaving for Penang - a place that I have always wished to return to since I left for my studies in 2002. I could have not imagine 8 years passes so quickly and filled with so much of valuable experiences, from friendship, career, financial, spiritual and health. It seems to be nothing more than 5 years ago when I came here for first sales job, then to the bank and then to another bank.

And no, I am not quitting but I am letting go in order to gain new experiences. Something that I am sure I will regret if I choose to let the opportunity passes away instead of giving it a best shot.

One more week of packing, handovers, farewell and more weeks to come for new days!!

Weekend within Klang Valley

It has been many many many weeks since I last spent my weekend here without traveling to anywhere out of Klang Valley..and yet, weekend was interesting!

Saturday - Started my morning workout with Mary at gym by attending Kat's Fitball Core class. One very crucial lesson learnt in the class was - in order to stay balanced with the ball, u shall stay focus! This does not apply only in the class, but we should apply to our daily life as well. Agree with me?

Headed to church for Sabbath Service after lunch. The sermon by Pr Daniel was about Lead a much More Beautiful Life :) Guess the message just came to me at the right time. Another reminder to myself too!

At night - haha, another interesting event. Went for SHAPE & MEN'S HEALTH MAGAZINE's Night Marathon 5km. The timing wasn't really good as I took 40mins to complete 5km..hmmm..need more training!

Sunday!
Is the best day besides Saturday because, you don't have to work!
Breakfast with Fern after such a long time (i think it is more than a year)..We had so much to catch up!

Lunch with Rachel and we strolled the Curve and headed for my Pedicure and Manicure by 5.30pm.

Dinner with my 'KaiZhai' and his mommy and daddy at Damansara Jaya's Magic Wok.
It was a fun-filled weekend & looking for next weekend!!

Standard Chartered KL Marathon 27th June 2010

Last weekend was an interesting one. I participated in the 2nd Standard Chartered Marathon held in Kuala Lumpur.

This year, they have moved the running pack collected to Stadium Titiwangsa. I was complaining why did they put it up at a place that people hardly know about its existance. Upon arriving the collection place, I think its not a bad idea after all. At least the runners and volunteers doesn't need to suffer under the rain or shine at Merdeka Square just like last year.

Woke up at 4.30am to get ready and leave the house at 5.15am. The rain was so heavy that we were worried how to run in the rain.

As we arrive at Padang Merbok around 5.45am, the heavy rain has stopped. And yes, the full marathon started at 5am. Hence, the runners might have ran in the rain for that case.

7.00am - the run for 10km category started. The heavy downpour prior to the run has helped to ease the run. The weather was cooling from the start till the end. However, my timing for 10km has deteriorate despite good weather condition. This was because I have cut down the number of marathons this year due to busy schedules (my last run was in Jan 2010, if I remember correctly) and no proper training prior to this run.

The runners crowd at the starting line - there were 16.5k runners

All of us manage to complete our run safely, except for a tragic run to a runner of 10km. Known as Lim aged 25 this year. He passed away when he was on the way to the hospital. It was really a sad news to encounter.

The Story of the Butterfly

A story which I have just read and find it worth sharing :)

A man found a cocoon of a butterfly.
One day a small opening appeared.
He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours
as it struggled to squeeze its body through the tiny hole.
Then it stopped, as if it couldn't go further.

So the man decided to help the butterfly.
He took a pair of scissors and
snipped off the remaining bits of cocoon.
The butterfly emerged easily but
it had a swollen body and shriveled wings.

The man continued to watch it,
expecting that any minute the wings would enlarge
and expand enough to support the body,
Neither happened!
In fact the butterfly spent the rest of its life
crawling around.
It was never able to fly.

What the man in his kindness
and haste did not understand:
The restricting cocoon and the struggle
required by the butterfly to get through the opening
was a way of forcing the fluid from the body
into the wings so that it would be ready
for flight once that was achieved.

Sometimes struggles are exactly
what we need in our lives.
Going through life with no obstacles would cripple us.
We will not be as strong as we could have been
and we would never fly.

It is a sad thing to read on Sunday morning on how much the communities have lost their sense of responsibilty towards precious life of new borns in the country.

'Baby Hatch' has been launced yesterday in Kuala Lumpur by a non-profit organisation called orphanCARE to provide an alternative to mothers to leave the baby up for adoption in a similar way for dumping the baby at the rubbish bin, streets or river (as you read from all the 'kes buang bayi' news). The only benefit of 'Baby Hatch' is being a proper place for the desperate mothers to dropped their baby and be able to stay anonymous.

Quote from the paper:
The hatch has a small door which opens to an incubator bed.
Once a baby is placed inside it and the door is closed, an alarm bell will alert the staff.

It saves a life, but this may encourage such unloved act to all continue. Is it the desperate mothers that leaves us with no choice but prepare a place for them to dump their babies?

Been Sick and Having Lots to Catch Up

The weather lately has been torturing. It all started with terrible heat since Chinese New Year in Feb and continued until past weeks where it followed by with heavy rain in the evening after burning sun during the early hours in the day. The moody weather has caused so many to fall ill, including me.

It all started with throat infection, followed with mild fever, then ulcer and flu subsequently.

Thank God, I am good to say that I have fully recovered after a full week of recovery process. Although there is still a slight feeling of tiredness, it should be okie....

The downside is, my work has been progressing extremely slow since I fall ill. There are tonnes of stuff to catch up at work and pending to be closed. :(

Being sick is so Pricey!

Friends out there-->> Please take a good care of your health. Drink plenty of water and get good rest whenever you can. Don't fall ill like me!

Talk Non-Stop For 6 hours

Today is a crazy day. I had to walkthrough functional specifications documents with 2 different countries business back to back....Exhausted..

However, both sessions went quite smoothly with many interactive questions and answers session from the audience. This is a tough process as we are doing them over conference call. It is not easy to make sure everyone is paying attention on your explanation for straight 3 hours...maybe they did not! ahaahhaa..some really didn't coz I do get questions on items that I have explained like just few minutes back...

10km Bareno Run + MATTA Fair

It was a Sunday that started with running, followed by non-stop walking ... I went to the 2nd Marathon that I've sign up for this year -> 10km marathon at Stadium Bukit Jalil. I have always amazed many when I tell them that I can wake up early in the morning if it is for a marathon, especially my mum. She will tend to ask --> can you wake up?? this shows I am not a morning person to many...

Well, when you have something to look forward and not to be missed, you will make it happen!

I managed to complete the run in about 1 hour 20 mins...normal average timing of mine...Wished to complete in an hour but did not happen..guess I really need to have a lot of training to make it less than an hour for 10km..

Anyone wanna do treadmill with me every morning? ;)

After the run, I came back for a nice shower and head to MATTA Fair..Yes...MATTA Fair...a place that is so crowded with people who seek for cheap holiday packages at PWTC. To our surprise, there was also a Photo Fest held in PWTC and it was at before the MATTA Fair entrance. So, there we go, diverted into camera fair..Guess what..I end up buying a camera by coming for MATTA Fair..

Okie, back to original agenda -> MATTA Fair

It was seriously packed with humans! The fair was huge with 3 halls occupied with booths. We did not sign up for any packages as you normally get good deals when you have more pax signing up for a package. It was the last day of the fair. Hence, it will be tough to plan holidays that way. Imagine, you have to call one after another to explain the packages and have not much time to make decision. Well, lesson for the day is, Never go to MATTA Fair on the last day. At least go on the 2nd last day to consolidate all the offers, go home to make the comparison, call friends to join, and then make the booking the following day...AIM for next MATTA Fair in September 2010!

Simple that I have just decided to skip my Saturday Gym classes ... Mary called last night that she will need to 'fly kite' on our gym session..there goes my motivation..no one is heading to gym with me and haha..better not blame anyone..its me! its me! just being lazy and decided to give it a miss.

Buzz Chris to have breakfast with me and there we go! We head to McDonalds breakfast and roam around IOI mall with so many shops not opened as early as 9.30am..We even waited for the cinema to open and we bought Alice In the Wonderland tickets for this evening...

Headed to Giant to quickly grab some yogurts and milk for my stock and also some fresh veges and carrots for Cotton and Caramel...

Had a great time / company with Rachel driving back to Sitiawan - long long chat after she has left for UK for nearly 2 years.
Attended Sabbath & Holy Communion at Kg. Koh church - get to meet many bro and sis!
Brought Mrs Jeba out for dinner - gave her a surprise by getting Rachel shown up without her knowing of her return..
Brought mum and dad for lunch at Pizza Hut - celebrate mum's belated birthday with her favourite fast food.

Whatelse? Look forward to be home again!

Hardisk Crashed Again :(

It is a week where my less that 1 year old hardisk got crashed! On Monday itself...Fresh start for 1st day of March and 1st day of the week...And this time, I did not have any back up on all my current working files..that drove me crazy and i stared blank at the temporay pc loan to me while waiting for my laptop to be replaced with a new hardisk...Sob Sob...

Today, I have got back my laptop with new hardisk and policy installed...most applications are installed back but my data is still gone...waiting for last hope..if the converter that will come tomorrow can extract my files from the old hardisk, that would be my last wish for this week....

Silly me. I bought Air Asia FREE Tickets to Penang Aug last year for this weekend's flight. It was only RM18 for the return tickets. However, only a week prior to this trip that I came to realise that it is a Public Holiday on Friday...wasted one day of holiday that I could have spent it in Penang as well..

Woke up at 5.30am to drive to LCCT for the flight, reached airport at 6.40am. The schedule shown that my flight AK5352 is departing at 8.30am. I was confused...the departure supposed to be 8.05am.

Here is the conversation at the check in counter:

Me: Is the flight to Penang delayed?
Ground Stewardess: No the flight is ON TIME.
Me: But..I bought my ticket with departure time at 8.05am
Ground Stewardess: Oh, it has been rescheduled
Me: **Confused** no one informed me
Ground Stewardess: You have to check it from the website.
Me: Took my ticket and left **Angry**

This is not a good service!!

Yes, all years the weather during Chinese New Year is hot in Malaysia. And for this year, it is very much worst compared to previous years!

No one would want to leave the house unless needed. Home visiting has been reduced as well...Past few years, we used to go visiting from house to house {and collect Ang Paus =)} but not this year anymore or maybe it was just 'me' who prefer to hide at home and hibernate with the heat out there on its own. sighh....

Back to work today ...first thing in the morning as I try to load all my long list of emails, POP - BLUE SCREEN!! argghh....okie..force shut down..try again..reboot....wait wait wait.....okie before I have even got the chance to on the Outlook - POP - BLUE SCREEN AGAIN!!!!! gosh....what a good way to start my first day back to work...

Mum sets self on fire over recalcitrant teen

NIBONG TEBAL: A 33-year-old mother suffered burns after allegedly setting herself on fire in an incident in Jalan Hutan Lipur here.

The mother of seven did so allegedly due to disappointment over the attitude of one of her daughters, police said.

Seberang Perai Selatan OCPD Supt Shafien Mamat said in the incident which occurred at 12.40am yesterday, the victim was advising her 15-year-old daughter, who was said to be seldom home.

The mother suddenly bolted out of the house, poured petrol on her body before lighting up a candle and setting herself on fire, he said.

“She told police that she was under pressure when dealing with her daughter,” he told a news conference yesterday.

Other members of the family, including her husband, came to her rescue.

The victim suffered 54% burns from the forehead to the abdomen and has been referred to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Star. — Bernama

Gym seems to be very full in the evenings and roads tends to be not that jam after 9am. Going back to office today makes me recalling all the rush at work and there is no feeling of brand new year despite all the holidays. Work will never end, it will come after one another or even before one is complete. One of my new year resolution for this year which sticks the same from one year to another is ONE AT A TIME!

A visit to Yeoh's Family

It was a long weekend with Friday added a day of rest to all of us in Malaysia. We have planned a trip to Kuantan sometime back to visit Agatha's home...the list started with 10 persons...cut down to 8 and the night before departure, only 2 left (synn li and myself)...Don't know when so many has learnt flying a jetplane!! :P yet, we decided to carry on with our plans since it was not a last minute trip.

We pushed off on Friday morning and arrived Kuantan about 2.5~3 hrs later. Agatha brought us to have Kuantan's Best Fried Chicken at a small little stall nearby her house. Then we came back to her house and her mom and brothers were busy putting up the Xmas trees and we helped out in wrapping the gifts...haha..it was fun and learnt great wrapping skills from her mum too!

At night, the whole family went to have Prawn Mee at one of their favourite stalls nearby..yes, it was all local nice food being recommended to us. After dinner, we went to walk at Teluk Chempedak beach and enjoy the sea breeze......

The next morning, we went to her sister's cafe at East Coast Mall for breakfast...(Ms Veg Vegetarian Cafe)

It was also the start of school holidays to all Malaysian kids. Her cousins from KL also came for a visit at the same time. After an exciting weekend back to hometown last week, I decided not to go anywhere this weekend. Sleep in a bit late than normal working days.

Saturday morning...Lee gave me a call at 9am to meet up and give a surprise visit to Rose and her mum at 10am. Thank God he called an hour before and not 10am..i could have easily overslept just like what happen to my morning Bukit Kiara walk few months back..

Attended Sabbath Service at PJ church after missing that for so many weeks. Good to be back! Followed with a 2 hours 4 mins movie "2012" which was awesome! It was a great movie that can really make you think for hours and perhaps for sometime about LIFE and how we should have lived our life and not take it for granted! Go watch it..and experience it yourself..what would you do if you know 'the day' is coming?

And as for Sunday...i am back to some gym routine..RPM @ the Curve! great one! but the after effect was not that good....still yawning even with Cafe Latte..this is what you get if you don't exercise regular enough..you feels like you have used up ALL your energy in the 45mins class and have nothing left!

Well...weekend has come to an end..Have a great week ahead buddies!!!

Woke up at 5.30am this morning to send Veron and Pat off to the race this morning. They have great sense of direction. Showed them the way to the stadium yesterday evening and they can already reach there on their own today. Went back to bed after locking the doors...

Dad woke me up at 7.30am..just nice to wash up and adjourn to the stadium to be the supporters of the day. It was a hot sunny morning..good for the race but really HOT!!!

People Make Mistakes

Sounds familiar? This is very common and yes, its the truth! "People Do Make Mistakes".

One important thing we need to constantly remember is..no one on earth is 'perfect'. Neither should we expect one nor try to be one. We will never find a perfect end to it, instead we will end up just living in the IDEAL world of thoughts throughout our lives.

I am touching on this in this post due to many factors which I personally experience it through different circumstances.

1. If you do not accept the fact that "People Make Mistakes", you may easily set unrealistic expectations. In no time, you will find that you get upset or frustrated when things do not workout the way you may have highly expected on.

2. Worst case would be when you do not realise that you have fallen into "Perfectionist" trap, your frustration will lead to "No Confidence", and subsequently to "Self Guilt"/"Self Pity" and then....lastly "Depression". Isn't it scary??

Don't fall in the trap! No one if Perfect!

3. Besides, other then above danger, you may also tend to draw a line to things / work that needs to be delivered as a team. What I am trying to share here is, when we do not accept the fact that "People Make Mistakes", we tend to not see through each individual's weakness and strength. Instead we just keep our mind straight as in "he/she should have done this..done that"... or saying stuff like.."it's not my fault..she did not do so, hence the problem is not with me".

Why not we try to understand each individual's strenght and weakness and compliment one another?

I have not been running for Marathons since the last Mc Donald's Run in July...Woke up at 6am this morning and push off to Stadium UPM for Mizuno Wave Run. Started the run at 7.37am and ended at 9.20am...Yes, it was an awful timing....This is the consequences of no proper training before hitting the run.

The route was a little hilly (not as bad as Bukit Tunku, Bukit Kiara, which is rated as Bukit Hantu to me).hahaahah....The scenery is nice with fresh air compaired to running in the city...

2 days back, we have heard so many natural disaster happening around the world such as the earthquake at Padang Indonesia, Tsunami at America Samoa etc...Can we imagine how fragile our life is?

You can be healthy and rich but you can never take charge of what is to happen next!

Life is in the hand of God. We will not know when He is taking it away from us. All we can do is just to treasure each day that He had granted to us preciously. If we faces challenges, face it with courage and not live in denial. If we felt that we are walking towards an unknown path, leave it to God with trust and faith to move on. Things will eventually fall in place. That is the reason of 'Faith' existance.

Shall we sit down and worry? Not really cause worrying will never help in any ways. Live a purposeful life before it is too late for anything.

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.

SON: 'Daddy, may I ask you a question?'

DAD: 'Yeah sure, what it is?' replied the man.

SON: 'Daddy, how much do you make an hour?'

DAD: 'That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?' the man said angrily.

SON: 'I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?'

DAD: 'If you must know, I make $50 an hour.'

SON: 'Oh,' the little boy replied, with his head down.

SON: 'Daddy, may I please borrow $25?'

The father was furious, 'If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I don't work hard everyday for such childish frivolities.'

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.

The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?

After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down , and started to think:

Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $25.00 and he really didn't ask for money very often The man went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.

'Are you asleep, son?' He asked.

'No daddy, I'm awake,' replied the boy.

'I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier' said the man. 'It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $25 you asked for.'

The little boy sat straight up, smiling. 'Oh, thank you daddy!' he yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills.

The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.

The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father.

'Why do you want more money if you already have some?' the father grumbled.

'Because I didn't have enough, but now I do,' the little boy replied.

'Daddy, I have $50 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to

have dinner with you.'

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness.

It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $50 worth of your time with someone you love.

If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of hours. But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

This is what you get in real..the sambal is awful and there is not even a single 'ikan bilis'

The drumstick/fried chicken does not come together.

Took this at KLIA, plain nasi lemak cost RM8.00 and the drumstick cost RM3.50
Understand that these international fast food chain tries to practice the teaching - Think Global, Act Local. However, please let it be local price and most of all local taste!
So, isn't it better if we go to stalls nasi lemak?

I was feeling so lazy since I came back from vacation. Thought of going to gym was there but the action to it wasn't. This morning went for a swim at the pool in my apartment. The 30 minutes swim made so much difference.

Swimming is considered to be a healthy and relaxing activity. It not only tones the body and provides an excellent cardiovascular workout, it also strengthens your heart muscles and improves the delivery of oxygen to the different parts of the body. With that, it keeps you energize and takes away the awful lethargic feeling.

My Brother in law opened the bottom drawer of his sister's wardrobe and lifted a tissue wrapped package. "This", he said, "this is not a slip. This is lingerie". He discarded the tissue and handed me the lingerie. It was exquisite, silk, handmade and trimmed with a cobweb lace. The price tag was still attached. "Jen bought this the first time we went to New York, at least 8 to 9 years ago. She never wore it. She was saving it for a special occasion. Well, I guess this is the occasion. He took the lingerie from me and put it on the bed with other clothes we were taking to the mortician. His hand lingered on the soft material for a moment and turned to me.

"Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Everyday you're alive is a special occasion."

I went to Melaka for a day trip with Elaine and Alven. I was thinking it would be a good idea to do something different or go somewhere different rather than meeting up for lunch or dinner in KL. Suggested the idea and then there we went...explore the historic town..

The first thing that we will never missed is the Melaka famous Chicken Rice Ball. By the time we arrived Melaka, it was just in time for lunch...Have you tried this?

'Pai Kia' in Hokkien means notorious/BAD child..

I went to Cheras Old Town Coffee for dinner with 2 friends. This used to be our meeting place to catch up and chit chat..the parking was FREE all the while. Even if there is charges, normally DBKL will not collect parking fee after certain hours such as 6pm onwards..

Today, after I parked my car, a motorcyclist came and asked for money. This is quite normal in most places where you get to see someone trying to collect some fee from you 'illegally'. Most of the time, they request for RM1 the most..some poor beggars may ask for 50cents, depending on the places/spots AND most of the time the poor public will just pay in order to avoid unncessary trouble like car got scratched etc. However, this time the guy asked for RM3 (I was shocked!) RM3???

So, I asked...Do you have license? Does DBKL know you are collecting? He answered 'Yes' to all..In order not to get into any trouble, I reluctantly pay him the RM3 and asked for the receipt...Gosh! Hot coffee in Old town itself is onlt RM2.80 and I am paying that RM3 fee for a person who operates this collection illegally?????

With frustration, I went to Old Town to ask the staff. The supervisor explained that they knew about it and has complained. Police did not take action, neither did DBKL!!!!

I left my sports shoe at gym's locker this morning...Only realise it when i reach office (half hour after I left gym)..First thing first in the office, I searched for IOI Fitness First number..got it and called...

Hello...Hmm I left my shoe at locker number XXX,..can you check? Just a while ago..
The front desk replied..Oh ..okie can I have your name and contact number...blah blah blah..I gave and he promised to call me back...

After more than an hour, no one called. So, in desperation to know if my shoe is still there..I called back.Hmm i called just now about my shoe..the same person answered..Oh Oh..lena rite? We checked and there is none...i was like HUH???!!!! cannot be just a while ago only....he said..yes, miss..we checked other lockers also ..cant find any....SILENCE>SAD>>>>

He acknowledge the silence by saying...okok..let me check again and will call you back if can find it...ENDED..

I was so upset the whole day..My new NIKE, less than 2 mths old... gone........... add on with self guilt....

After work at 9pm plus..i decided to try my luck. I drove back to IOI and went straight to the same locker XXX. Praying very hard that it was a lie that my shoe was gone...GUESS WHAT!!! IT was still there!!!!!!!!! Same place!!

What have the Front Desk did???
