Disheartened with my Braces.....

This coming February will mark the step into the 5th year of my braces....It was a long long journey since the day I put on the braces... First...I had to remove 2 molars teeth from the upper jaw...I was tearing after each removal as the pain was so horrible.... Next, I did not eat a single solid food for 2 weeks when the braces was first fixed to my teeth. Brushing them has become so painful. Every morning started with pain.... No doubt, the braces helped to get my teeth into better and proper shape over the years. The sad part is, the gaps due to the removed molars are still there. It does not seems to be closing any further. Last week, the doctor decided to give me an alternative option:- ' Bridging ' I started to google for more information and here is what it is all about... Dental bridges are false teeth anchored on neighbouring teeth in order to replace one or more missing teeth. The false tooth is known as a pontic and is fused in between two crowns that serve as ancho...

Together, Impossible is Nothing

Today marked another great achievement in my life for the early of 2009, where I could not believe that I could complete a 30km marathon. It was held by Pacesetters Athletic Club Malaysia and sponsored by Great Eastern Life Is Great >. There were only 2 distance categories, 20km and 30km. Being a beginner to marathon, a few running buddies and myself decided to register for 20km. Most of us have done only 10km or maximum 12km for marathons so far. Unfortunately, we were told that the registration for 20km was full by the time we submitted our registration. So, in order to run with 'Numbers', we went ahead to register for 30km but keep our options flexible by either going for 20km or 30km as the day arrives. The only disadvantage to run for 20km despite being registered as 30km runner is - no medals and certification will be given. We were okie with the options and started the outdoor running practice two weeks continously with no fail. When they day arrived, we challenged o...

New Running Partner

This morning, I've got a SURPRISE from my running buddy (see above). He gave me a new running partner. Reason? Coz he is leaving the country for sometime to explore into a brand new adventure. Tomorrow will be our last marathon for this year until he comes back at the end of 2010. Thanks a lot buddy! I will keep running!!

What a Day!!

My day has been filled with meetings after meetings today. Wanted to join Body Combat then RPM but prolonged meeting screwed up my workout plans. I nearly give up for RPM @ 7.45pm as I was still on a conference call at 7.25pm!! Then I got an sms for Lydia..She managed to register for me! So there I go! pack everything within seconds and flew to the gym. I was late. :( Started at the end of Track 2. But it was just another great workout after all. Thanks a lot Lydia!!!

Food For Thought

Chinese New Year is near the corner...I would like to share another article which I have read recently so that we get to know the culture better. During Chinese New Year, Chinese people tend to be mindful of taboos and superstitions, even when it comes to food. It is believed that what you eat could symbolise how your year will turn out to be. For the Cantonese, the following are must-have dishes. Prawns - The word for this crustacean sounds like laugther; eating it means your year ahead will be filled with happiness Fish - A slight twist of the tongue and the word for fish sounds like 'to have in surplus' Chinese Celery - Sounds like 'diligence', inferring that children of household will study hard Spring Onion - Want geniuses? Stock up on this vegetable, which sounds similar to 'intelligent' Leek - 'To Count' and leek are the same, phonetically. It implies abundance as on wuld have money to count. So, I you noticed these food being served on Chinese N...

2 Nights @ Jakarta

This is my second visit to Jakarta for business trip. I am staying in Le Meridien again, but this time I get to stay in at the Starwood Preferred Guest Floor. Don't ask me - until now, I still can't see any difference staying at the floor. Both trip was a very rushing trip. During my first trip, I took cab to Plaza Indonesia and Senayan City. The shopping malls here are superb! To be honest, its much more gigantic than any of those in KL. Last night my colleague brought me to Grand Indonesia (which is just next to Plaza Indonesia). We had dinner at Y&Y restaurant serving rice, pasta, and steak...We shared a lot cultural difference etc. And later, he brought me to a local street called 'Jalan Pecendongan' to experience the local street food. We went for desert by the street. For once, I get to feel a very local experience. I had 'Es Shanghai' (Es = Ais). The serving is like our local Ais Kacang but for 'Es Shanghai' - the ingredient is Coconut, avaco...

1st Week of 2009!

I am currently on board MH727 - heading to Jakarta (34,000 feet above sea level, at the speed of 800km/h) You must have wondered, how can I possibly have internet connection in the air? Hehe...I am writing this in my Notepad. By the time you are reading this, I have checked into the hotel and hooked on to the broadband internet access in the hotel to get this entry posted. First week of the year has been fantastic. I started my Sunday with 1 hour non-stop running at Kelana Jaya Lake Garden at 8.30am with a few gym buddies (it covers approximately >6km). Part of the reason for us doing this is because we have registered for 20km Marathon (organised by Great Eastern) on 18 Jan 09. {10 days from now} Upon completing the run, we rewarded ourself with nice Malaysian breakfast - Nasi Lemak at Village Park, Uptown (They are really well known of the Nasi Lemak and seriously, it is DeLiciOus!!) We took some rest after that and continue with another set of workout at the gym - RPM!!! @ Fitnes...

Stranger at KLIA

Confused..Hate this feeling I am currently at KLIA waiting to go onboard. I am taking a night flight to Singapore to conduct a one full day training in Singapore Office. The is this African Guy sitting like 3 empty seats away from me. I tried to look towards the boarding gate and have to see him too as he is seated at the same side. And he suddenly asked me, "Are you from Singapore?" With a face of "No Expression", I replied "NO" and quickly turn back to face at my laptop so that I do not create any further conversations with stranger. Then, inside me I feel bad for ignoring him with purpose. I cannot help but to avoid any conversations with stranger which is from a place which we always hear bad intentions of their people. My feeling was filled with fear, guilt and empathy which is equivalent to "Confused". Fear - because I may be putting myself into unknown danger by talking to strangers. Guilt - because I felt that I am trying to discriminate ...

Smaller GOALS?!

I had a chat with a friend today. We talked about 2009, new year resolutions, new year goals, what are we going to / want to do for this year, etc. He told me that his goals are getting smaller this year compared to previous years. He is a friend whom I trust always THINK BIG in most of his life. When he used 'Smaller Goals' to describe his 2009 plans, it has then make me feel that he seems to be losing confidence on what he could go for. Why have the goals been describe smaller? Or it is really small after all? After knowing the said 'Smaller Goals'. I do not think its small..and decided to see them as more REALISTIC GOALS! At times, many of us tend to forget the golden rule of goal setting which is...Set SMART goals...It means S- specific M- measurable A- achievable R- realistic T- timely My dear friend, if you are reading this (you know who you are), I hope this has helped you to see your goals in a positive perspective. They are not small, but the have become SMART ...

How To Love Workout

I have just read in a magazine which says the following:- Exercising with someone at your own age may help you to stick to your workout. University of British Columbia survey found that women of all ages strongly preferred working out with their peers. This is indeed very true. My 2008 has been a real life example. I re-join gym in Jan 2008 after 5-6 months of quitting as my current travelling job do not permit me to visit the gym every single day. After nearly 6 months with no gym, I feel the need to get back to one as I feel lethargic and tired very easily. Upon signing up, I was still reminding myself to workout as often as I could. I used to drag myself to gym with the feeling that "I HAVE TO EXERCISE" and therefore I must go.... few weeks down the road, I get to know more friends at gym and we go for classes together...It is really a very good motivator. It had made exercising so much fun and interesting...slowly, we are more than gym friends. We have dinner together, sp...

Happy New Year 2009

We have just waved GoodBye to 2008 yesterday. It was a good year after all. With a few closed friends, we went for a movie at CineLeisure @ the Curve. We watched 'IP MAN'..The movie is awesome! Right after the movie, we proceed to have countdown dinner at the 'Bubba Gump' Shrimp & Co Restaurant. We can only have 'Festive Menu' and no ala-carte orders were available for the night.... We hangout in the restaurant and played 'Taboo' until the fireworks started. The fireworks took about 10mins and it was a great one to start off our 2009. I would like to once again wish everyone a very Happy New Year and may all of you have a blessed 2009! Cheers!!
