Slim & Trim ~ Without Feeling Grim

Here is another quick guide from my to be thrown away magazine...

  1. DON'T GO ON DIET - successful slimming is more likely to be achieved by subtle changes in your eating habits and lifestyle. Don't ban any food from your slimming plan, especially things you like. Enjoy small portion from time to time. Banning food is a sure-fire way to make you crave them.
  2. EAT SLOWLY AND YOU'LL EAT LESS - put your knife and fork down between mouthfuls, sip water with your meals and take smaller bites. It takes a while for your body to recognise that it has had enough of food - the slower you can eat, the less you'll want. Dont't feel the urge to clean your plate.
  3. KEEP A FOOD DIARY OR LOG - preferable calory counted. It will enable you to identify which food/drinks your need to have a bit less of; times/circumstances when you are likely to overeat and whether you're getting a varied diet with enough fruits and vegetables.
  4. GET SOME EXERCISE - successful slimmers tend to make exercise part of their plan. It doesn't have to be hard - even 20-30 minutes of fairly brisk walking a day will pay dividents. Every little helps - look for opportunities to be more active in your daily life.
  5. REWARD YOURSELF - give yourself a treat after each pound or kg your lose. New clothes makes a great incentive when you are slimming.

For whoever that is in the process of slimming down, always remember to avoid a drastic change such as crash diet. Stay healthy and balanced is more important to ensure you reap the long term benefit rather than having more problematic health as you age .

Small Win to Celebrate

Finn woke me up this morning instead of me doing so for him. He has been waking up feeling lousy and would whine non stop during school days..he would not stop until I started scolding him. Last night I prep him and put him to bed earlier than keith (rather than waiting for Keith to pack his bags). I managed to pat him and he slept at 10.15pm (not early but it seems enough). Right before he sleeps, I asked him to promise not to whine when he wakes up and he did well. He woke me up instead. He came to me and said, mommy….i want to wake up already….

Mini Lobsters I ate in Shanghai!

My job required me to travel very frequently to Shanghai last year. Somewhere during the 2nd half of the year, mini lobster has become our favorite. We will walk all the way to the stores and order few kilos of the fried mini lobsters each time. Recently, I received an email from a friend of mine reminding the danger of eating this mini creature! Please be alert of this food item... It may infect your lung. Do not eat these mini lobsters. These mini crustaceans are literally the garbage cleaners in the sewage treatment plants. The 'dirtier' the water, the fatter these mini lobsters become.Their lungs are full of worms and their flesh saturated with poisonous metals.Unscrupulous merchants somehow found a way to get these marketed to eateries. Do not order this dish. Pass this to those friends who may want to try these mini 'lobsters'. Even with this email, i think it is still worth it to try coz it is niceeee!!! And you do not get to eat them all year long! A kilo of thi
